Infos
Each winter season, around 100 billion cubic meters of snow fall down in the Alps. In the End approximately 100 trillion liters of water come down the mountains, adding all the melting ice as well. This immense quantity transforms the mountains into a white paradise that captivates and enchants visitors. Yet, this beauty carries a delicate fragility. While pristine snow-covered landscapes exude peace and grandeur, mass tourism leaves significant marks. Snow cannons, ski lifts, and the vast energy and water resources they consume place a heavy burden on the environment. Added to this are the emissions from travel and the accelerating impacts of climate change, which shorten snow seasons. These mixed feelings accompany every visit to the mountains: the joy of experiencing nature and the responsibility to protect it. "Hundred billion, hundred trillion" shall remind us to treat this precious resource with care and respect.
